Troubleshooting

Want more speed on your Voy? Before you upgrade the motor, check the following:
  • Check for a damaged fuse (Replace with a 20 Amp, miniature fuse 3/16" X 3/4")
  • Inflate front and rear wheels to 35 PSI
  • Check that the rear wheel band brake is not too tight. Loosen the two screws a half turn, and try the throttle. Make sure you are still able to stop fully.
  • Check for bloated batteries. Have you been charging your Voy properly? If you're not getting at least 12 MPH on level road, your batteries may be old or damaged.

  2. No, it does not need to. It is a low speed electric bicycle. See this document:

  3. Any places to troubleshoot/repair? Scooter store? Inherited a Voy that was hardly used, replaced the fuse and it took off--the throttle seemed to be locked in the max position--as soon as you turned the key on, it took off! Had to engage both brakes to stop it. Now, nothing happens when the key is turned on. The lights work, and the battery shows a good charge.

    Thanks!

    1. I had the same thing happen, except the lights do not work as the fuse blew. Did you ever figure why the throttle stuck?

  7. Hi,

That sounds about right. The Voy is a very small ebike with a small motor. Any small incline will slow it down greatly.

Please see the upgrade/modification page for ideas to make it go faster:

    1. I experienced similar problems and then let my Voy sit for the past two years. What did you finally do? Was this a fuse problem, controller, battery, or what?

  11. Hi, was the battery pack warm/hot after the 10 hour charge.
If so the battery pack may be damaged due to over charging.

  13. I have a Voy I had shipped to me somewhat disassembled. I put it together, and the battery is excellent. Initially it would run when the key was turned on at one speed, the throttle not seeming to have any effect. After someone tried fixing it for me, it no longer does even that. I suspect the throttle is the problem, but how do I know for sure? Or maybe sure, at least?

  14. I am trying to reconnect my throttle to see if it is working. Coming up through the bike are two black wires and one a yellow. Coming from the throttle (original) the wires are yellow, green, and red. I have tried all alternative matches, but can get no activity. I don't know if that is "user error" or an actual problem with the throttle. Any ideas or suggestions?

  16. I had just posted a question but thought I might repeat it here as a comment...
I experienced similar problems as Linda above and then let my VOY sit for the past two years. So now, I know I will need a new battery as a minimum. However, am wondering if it is likely I have a fuse problem, controller, or wiring issue. The scooter was almost new at the time. I am not sure where the fuses are located even since it is a challenge deciphering the user's manual. Any suggestions that anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. We are moving and, unless I can get it going in the next few weeks, will be forced to give it up. Thanks! Mortimer mortypri@aol.com

  17. I have been bumping my head up against a wall trying to figure out my controller/throttle issue with absolutely no experience in this sort of thing. If anyone has any suggestions, email to iama@kukura.biz.
I have put a page on my website describing my problem with text and picture. http://www.kukura.biz/voy-scooter.html

  18. I just did the controller limit bypass modification by disconnecting the black wire from the motor and connecting directly to negative on the battery. The wheel turns full speed regardless of throttle position. I thought this mod gave throttle control? Any advise would be appreciated.

    1. You have to put a switch in series with the black wire and you don;t disconnect the black wire from the controller. Email me if you still need help - fordisoman@aol.com

  19. there should be 2 single wires that come out of the controller and are connected, you separate those and you will have a faster speed
